After being discharged from the hospital and the Navy, QM3 Jasper returned to his hometown of Johnston RI. There he met and married Margaret Rugg, in 1947, and spent the next year working as a fireman on the naval base in Newport RI. After that he attended barber school in Boston MA. He worked with another barber for a number of years and finally opened his own shop in 1960, where he worked until his illness in 1988. Two sons survive him, MUCM Rick Jasper, a career sailor and Ken Jasper, who followed in his footsteps as a barber.

     QM3 Jasper was a great NY Yankees fan who also enjoyed playing cards. He and his wife enjoyed going on yearly vacations with friends. He was a quiet man, a great husband and father.
