SOM 3/c Furman Terrel (Terry) Smith
Email from Dorine C. Smith, Terry's wife: The sonarman referred to by Jack Larson in "recollections" was Furman Terrel Smith from South Carolina. Terry was my husband for 51yrs. until his death Apr.17, '02. He received the purple heart for wounds he received when the USS Rich was lost on D-Day +2. He later graduated from the University of S.C., worked for Dupont at the Savannah River Plant and made his home in North Augusta, S.C. Terry was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
